We had been practicing for weeks up until the show. We went to Craignure Hall to rehearse the show and perform.

Leading up to the Scottish Opera, we learnt the actions and songs. There were videos online which we learnt from. It was fun learning them because they were easy to learn and it was even better practising with a group.

It was hard but exciting too that the opera was happening soon. We were the Pirates of Persia, same as Dervaig, Ulva, Bunessan and Iona.

I felt proud for being a scary pirate. Our song gave me the chills when I first heard it but I loved the beat, I would sing it at home and my dad got annoyed at me, so I sang it on purpose. When we went into the hall, we were all split into groups, the Pirates, African and Indian group. We all practiced over and over. We also met the leader of the Persian Pirates, his name is Chris and I really liked him because he was funny and had a sense of humour.

I felt nervous at first because it was my first time. We wore pirate costumes that looked like a dress. It was a brown fearnought, purple baggy trousers and red pirate hat. It was very exciting because of all the colours.

Once we had all got our costumes on, we had a whole run through of the performance. After we finished, we sat and watched the audience come into the hall. As more and more audience filled the hall I felt knots in my tummy. Once the audience had settled in their seats, we did the performance. At the end we bowed and took off our costumes.

After the opera finished I was so relieved but sad at the same time because it was the last show before I got to high school.
