In Social Studies, we have been studying Natural Disasters and have researched how tsunamis are formed.

A tsunami is a huge wave caused by earthquakes underwater. Under water volcanic eruptions can also cause tsunamis.

At Shore School, we recreated the effects of tsunamis. We got tubs and put mud in them in a slope shape and made villages out of stones and sticks. Then we poured water in them and re-created a tsunami by using a ruler to push water creating a wave that caused destruction.

The way you can survive a tsunami is by getting to high ground and not go on any high buildings because they can be hit and fall so a tall hill or mountain would be best. A warning for a tsunami is the tide rapidly going out and some places have sirens warning about tsunamis.
